Channel manager
The channel manager is the software that syncs a hotel's availability and rates in real time across multiple booking platforms -- OTAs, GDS, the property's own booking engine. It prevents double bookings and replaces manual channel work.
The channel manager is the link between the PMS and the market. If it is set up wrong, the revenue management plan lives on paper -- and falls apart in daily operations.
What we see in practice: An 80-room hotel with four active OTA channels and a poorly synced channel manager loses two to three bookings a month to manual corrections and overbooking offsets. At a EUR 140 ADR, that adds up to EUR 3,400 to EUR 5,000 in lost revenue per year -- plus the operational time and guest communication when stays have to be rebooked. This is not a software fault. It is a configuration problem that could have been avoided from day one. Channel manager setup is not a one-off. It needs maintenance, review, and people who understand how the interfaces actually behave.
